Function
As a Data Engineer / Scientist at European Commodities, you will work in a multidisciplinary team where engineering, analytics, and operations come together. Your mission is to design robust data systems, develop quantitative models, and ensure secure and efficient energy operations — enabling the company and its customers to thrive in a highly complex and dynamic energy market.
Key responsibilities :
— As a Data Engineer, you will work as part of a team developing upgrades to our proprietary software environment, with a focus on data-intensive components such as our energy forecasting and our Energy Trade & Risk Management (ETRM) platforms. In collaboration with the team, you will handle all aspects of a project: understanding business-critical requirements, managing data processes and validation, and delivering insights through visualization and presentations.
— As a Data Scientist / Quant Developer, your role is to support our short-term portfolio managers with energy market analysis, helping them discover patterns on which they can build strategies to optimize customer portfolios. You will validate whether certain strategies can be automated and develop algorithms in Python, leveraging weather prediction models, artificial intelligence, and other data science techniques. You will also monitor and challenge the performance of our short-term load forecasting models and stay ahead of market developments.
